My goal for this Erin Condren marker color matching project is to figure out which older Dual Tip markers set(s) match the new sets the best. Huge thank you to Erin Condren for gifting both sets of these new Dual Tip Markers!
Color Matching the Colorful Legacy Planner
If you are using the new colorful Legacy design for 2027, you actually might not need to buy the new 12-pack of markers. If you already have the Sunset Pack, the Classic 8-Pack, and the Old Colorful 12-pack in your collection, you can easily pull from those to match almost every single month. The Sunset pack specifically is a fantastic match for the warm spring and summer tabs!
Color Matching the Earth Tones Toile Planner
The Toile LifePlanner has a beautiful, muted color palette. If you already have the older Earth Tones 6-Pack and the Pastel 6-Pack, you are completely set. The Heather, Lipstick, and Terracotta markers from that older Earth Tones pack perfectly match the first 4 months of the year. Actually, I would say the Earth Tones 6-Pack is all you really need, but the Pastel pack makes a great supporting colorway.

If you are starting from scratch with your marker collection, I recommend both new packs! Or if you’re like me and you have “complete set syndrome” and you just need want them all, grab them both!
If you have all of the older marker sets and only have room in the budget for 1 set of the new Dual Tip markers, I’d suggest purchasing the Colorful set (Legacy) because I think there are more new color tones in that set that we don’t really get similar matches for in the older packs (Butter, Jade, Fuchsia).
Some of the markers from the new sets are not on these photos because there weren’t enough of the other colors in the set they came in. For example, Taffy from the new Colorful set also appears in the Smiley World set (exact match) but none of the other Smiley World markers matched. If you have that set, definitely use the Taffy match! You can watch the video to see all of the exact matches (or just compare names on your marker barrels).
The Anti-Perfection Color Rule
As a recovering perfectionist, I want to gently remind you that your pen color does not need to perfectly match your planner tabs. Planning is a tool to help you get things done, not a strict rule you have to follow. If a color is slightly too pink or too blue, it will not negatively impact your life. Use what you have, build a functional system, and let go of the pressure for everything to look perfect!
