Use Functional Planner Sticky Notes to Double the Space in an Erin Condren Monthly Planner

Are you running out of room on your planner pages? Instead of buying a bigger, bulkier planner, the secret to creating more space is simply layering it. Today, I am showing you exactly how I use functional planner sticky notes to expand my weekly grid and stop rewriting the exact same tasks.

How can I add more space to my planner?

You can easily double your planning space by using functional printable sticky notes. They allow you to layer information, create movable to-do lists, and track daily notes without having to cram everything into the margins.

The Problem With Limited Planner Space

When you use a standard 7×9 planner, there is only so much room in your daily layout. If you are like me, random things happen throughout the week that you need to make a note of, but they do not necessarily belong on your daily to-do list.

For example, this week our dishwasher stopped draining properly. I needed a place to write down what happened and when my husband cleaned the filter. I also ran the self-clean cycle on my washing machine and wanted to track that date. If I wrote all of those random household notes directly on my planner pages, my weekly grid would instantly look cluttered and overwhelming.

How to Layer Your Planner

Instead of letting the margins get messy, I use printable sticky notes to create a second layer of planning space right on top of my page.

Layering for Notes

Once a day has passed, I simply stick my mini monthly calendar sticky note right over the space. This moves it out of the notes space and gives me a dedicated, clean spot to track all of those random weekly occurrences (like the broken dishwasher) without ruining my layout.

Stop Rewriting Tasks

Layering is also the absolute best way to handle recurring routines. I keep my cleaning checklist on a printable sticky note. If I do not get to mopping the floor, I do not stress about it. When the week is over, I just peel the sticky note up and move it to the very next week. Then next week, I can see which tasks to prioritize so nothing gets too far behind. You instantly save time and reduce your mental load because you never have to rewrite the same chores again.
