My Weekly Planning Reset in the Erin Condren Monthly Planner

How a simple weekly planning reset brings your motivation back

To get your motivation back, you have to stop chasing the shiny new thing and set strict boundaries with your work (not just career, but work at home as well). For a while, I was struggling with a lack of focus. However, getting all of those heavy expectations out of my head and onto a simple functional grid changed everything.

I am finally seeing the fruits of my labor. You do not need a complicated, pre-printed layout to get organized. Sometimes, scaling back to a basic grid and a pen is exactly what you need to beat the overwhelm and find your rhythm again.

The essential bits for your weekly planning reset

  • Keep it Simple: To create my layout, I just use a pen, a ruler, and my free layout guide to get the measurements. It takes just a few minutes to draw.
  • The Uneven Page Trick: If you have a coil planner, writing at the edge of the page near the coil can be so frustrating. Simply slide a spare notebook underneath the lower half of your planner page to raise it up. It creates a perfectly flat, smooth writing surface.
  • Use Printable Sticky Notes: I hate rewriting my recurring chores every single week. Instead, I print a sticky note template and fill it out once for the month! They keep my grid totally uncluttered, and I can just move them to the next week.
  • Test Your Pens: I did a quick pen test with the new Grabie erasable gel pens on the Erin Condren paper. While they erase nicely, the friction will smear your waterproof Micron pens, so make sure you do not overlap them (or just don’t erase if you do!).
