What’s New with Erin Condren Dual Tip Markers?
Let’s dive into the exciting updates:
- Named Barrels: Gone are the days of guessing the color. The new markers have their names printed directly on the barrel, making it easier to identify and organize your collection.
- Vibrant Color Palette: The new color sets offer a wider range of hues, including some stunning new shades.
- New Barrels: The new barrels of the markers are a little thicker in hand and also have some fun asterisks printed on them, instead of the old (beloved) mid-century circles design. They’re the same barrel as you get with the dual-tip highlighters.

A Closer Look at the Color Sets:
Erin Condren offers several dual tip marker color sets to suit different preferences:
- Classic 8-Pack: This set includes essential colors like hot pink, peach, pumpkin, green, aquamarine, navy, purple, and black. Shop this set

- Meadow 6-Pack: A refreshing palette of greens, blues, and purples, perfect for nature-inspired themes. Shop this set

- Dusk 6-Pack: A dreamy collection of blues and purples, ideal for creating calming and serene spreads. Shop this set

- Sunset 6-Pack: A warm and inviting set of reds, oranges, and yellows, perfect for adding a touch of sunshine to your pages. Shop this set

There is also another set that released with the SmileyWorld®️ collab. I don’t have that one yet, but when I receive my order, I’ll update this post. I’m thinking the aqua color in that set will be a better match for November (see below).
Color-Coding Your Planner with Erin Condren Dual Tip Markers
One of the most popular uses for these markers is color-coding your planner. The Erin Condren monthly colorway is iconic. I used PlannerKate dot stickers in the EC monthly colors to find the matches. (Save an extra 20% with my code KK20)
I’m baffled as to why they don’t give us a set of 12 markers and/or highlighters that match the monthly colors. Bonus points if they include both the color name and the month name on the barrels. This is such a missed opportunity.
HEY EC, WE ALL WANT THIS. PLEASE MAKE IT AND TAKE MY MONEY.

Here’s a quick guide to matching the new dual tip markers to the Erin Condren monthly colorway:
Month | Marker Color |
---|---|
January | Turquoise |
February | Candy |
March | Blossom |
April | Iris |
May | Peach |
June | Mermaid |
July | Sapphire |
August | Nectarine |
September | Purple |
October | Pumpkin |
November | Cornflower (close match) |
December | Lime |
Comparing Old and New: Is the Upgrade Worth It?
If you already own the older version of the dual tip markers, you might be wondering if the upgrade is worth it. While the older version offers a solid performance, the new markers offer several key improvements:
- Improved Ink Quality: The newer markers have a smoother ink flow, especially in the fine tip, resulting in a more precise and enjoyable writing experience. Note: I may have only noticed this difference because my original Erin Condren Dual Tip marker collection is many years old. Perhaps my markers have just begun to reach the end of their lives and seem dryer in comparison to the new ones.
- New Barrels: I like the new barrels that are the same as the dual tip highlighter barrels. And the named barrels make it much easier to identify and organize your markers, saving you time and frustration. Such a game changer.
- Vibrant Color Palette: The new color sets offer a wider range of vibrant and saturated colors, allowing you to create more dynamic and visually appealing spreads. I do wish we had some exact matches the the Erin Condren Monthly Colorway, but we do like to get creative and figure it out, don’t we?

Ultimately, the decision to upgrade depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you’re looking for a smoother writing experience, more vibrant colors, and easier organization, the new Erin Condren dual tip markers are a worthwhile investment.
Tips and Tricks for Using Erin Condren Dual Tip Markers
- Protect Your Markers: Store your markers in a pen case or organizer to protect the tips and prevent them from drying out. The best way to store them is horizontally, but I currently have mine upright in this acrylic organizer. I do like to rearrange my desk setup, so they’ll probably go into this desk organizer soon!
- Layer for Depth: Experiment with layering different colors to create unique effects and add depth to your designs. This is something I’m not great at, but I think would be so fun to improve on this skill.
- Blend for Soft Transitions: Use a blending pen or brush to soften the edges of your colors and create a watercolor-like effect. I admit I haven’t tried a blending pen yet, but I’ve been watching some coloring videos and it seems like it would make a cool effect. Let me know if you want me to try it and show you! - Create Custom Color Palettes: Mix and match colors from different sets to create personalized color palettes that suit your style. This is the fun part! I love color and making color palettes is pretty fun.
- Make Swatch Cards: I used simple 3×5 notecards and my Erin Condren LifePlanner stencil to make some simple swatch cards to keep on hand for color matching. I just hole-punched the corner and threaded them onto a book ring for easy storage.
