Have you ever tried Amazon’s Prime Wardrobe service? I decided to give it a shot because I need to get my Spring 2019 capsule wardrobe together. The town where we currently live has almost no options for clothes, so ordering online is pretty much my only way to find exactly the right pieces for me.
Here’s a run-down of how Prime Wardrobe works
- Amazon Prime members select 3-8 items to fill a box. Try an Amazon Prime Membership free
- The box is shipped to you free (you pay nothing up front)
- Try on the pieces at home
- You have 7 days to decide what to keep
- Send back the items you don’t want with free return shipping
- Pay for only the items you keep
Daily Ritual picks for my Spring 2019 Capsule Wardrobe
Daily Ritual is an Amazon company that makes everyday basic casual clothes that are exactly my style. All of their styles and colors are what I look for when I am shopping for my capsule wardrobe. Plus the price is great, ranging from $10 to $40 an item. Really! I haven’t seen anything for more than $39.
It’s really important to know what you like and what looks best on you when you start planning a capsule wardrobe. If you’re not sure what’s best for you just yet, make sure you grab my FREE capsule wardrobe planner which will help you figure that out.
I chose to add all Daily Ritual products to my Prime Wardrobe box. I filled it up with 8 pieces from the brand. You can mix and match pieces from different brands and categories. As long as the item page says Prime Wardrobe on it, you are good to go.
Daily Ritual Pants
I have been trying to branch out from my usual denim and black uniform. I love denim and black and have truly considered pulling a Zuckerberg by wearing the same thing every day. However, I end up feeling like kind of a frump when I don’t put any effort into my appearance. Gotta find that simplicity balance! I chose three bottoms from the Daily Ritual line: green girlfriend chinos, green five pocket pants, and black skinny jeggings.
I kept these army green pants because they fit really well and they were different than anything else I already owned.
I returned these chino pants because they cut in at the waist and gave me a muffin top. Since I was keeping the other green pants, I didn’t need these anyway, but now I know I don’t need to try another color.
These black jeggings were so cheap I was tempted to keep them! In the end I returned them because they weren’t anything special.
Daily Ritual Tops
Daily Ritual has an amazing selection of basic tops and tees. I went with a black and white striped short sleeve tee and a green racerback tank.
I love this black and white striped top. I plan to see if they have other colors so I can round out my basic tees.
This racerback tank went back because it fit funny. It was really short on my long torso and it clung in weird spots. But it wasn’t too small, so ordering a size up would have made the arm holes way too big. I liked the color, but other than that it wasn’t for me.
Daily Ritual Jackets
I selected two jackets in an effort to step up my style game. I think need to cool it with the hoodies. It’s just so easy to bum around and be lazy when you’re all cozy in a hoodie. Or is that just me? We’re moving to Florida, so I’m not really sure how often I’ll need a cute jacket, but we’ll see!
This military jacket is nice for the price. Really nice. I recommend that you get it if you’re looking for a jacket like this. It’s very good quality. I returned it however because I just couldn’t see myself wearing it. I might have kept it if it were olive green, but I was buying a lot in that color at the time that I ordered so I chose navy instead.
This denim jacket from Daily Ritual is so so good. Quality and color is spot on and the price can’t be beat. It fits well across the shoulders but I can’t button it closed because of my, ahem, chest size. That’s normal for me and anything that buttons on the chest, so it’s not a dig at the jacket at all. Since I don’t plan to wear it buttoned, I didn’t care.
Daily Ritual Dress
Casual dresses are my not-so-secret weapon for looking a little more put together while still being cool and comfy. In other words, dresses are socially acceptable nightgowns. I’m okay with that.
I wanted to love this sweatshirt dress so bad. It’s amazing quality. Very thick and cozy. The color is awesome. I don’t know why they call it Dorito, but who doesn’t love Doritos? The problem for me was that the dress is cut straight down and I need something that nips in at the waist to show my shape better. I was sad to send this one back!
Prime Wardrobe Review
Over all, the Prime Wardrobe experience was great. Everything about the process was simple, which is how I like it! Anything that makes shopping online for clothing easier is number one in my book. I like that you can choose the items you want in your box, where other similar services you have to just hope you like what you receive. It feels like less of a time waste that way. Additionally, I like that you could choose the same items in different sizes if you’re unsure of the fit. I’m definitely going to use Prime Wardrobe again to round out my Spring 2019 capsule wardrobe.
