Efficient Planner Sticker Organization
There’s something ironic about taking the time to plan your week, but then creating more chaos in the process. Planning is about making your life easier! But searching through planner stickers and then having to clean up the mess afterwards is definitely not making it easier.
So what can you do to keep it simple? Create an efficient planner sticker organization system in a reusable sticker book. These books have special paper that lets you add a sticker, and then pick it back up again without any damage. The sticker is good as new and can be used in your planner just like normal. Think of the paper as the same kind your stickers come on.

Choose an Organization Framework
Before you start moving stickers in to your reusable sticker book, you’ll need to decide on the framework. To figure out your organization system, ask yourself “What is the first thing I look for when choosing a sticker?”. The answer to that question forms the basis of the system you use to fill your sticker book.
Organize Planner Stickers by Color
The first thing I look for when I need a planner sticker is color. I mainly use planner stickers on my Erin Condren LifePlanner monthly spreads. Since I use the colorful design, I like my stickers to match. So I group all of my planner stickers together that match the EC monthly color.
Organize Planner Stickers by Size and Shape
If you normally need a sticker that’s going to fit in a certain spot in your planner, you might consider organizing by size or shape. Some planners have wildly different sizing on different pages. For example, the monthly spread of a 7×9 Daily Duo can use standard 1.5″ stickers just fine, but the labels for the daily pages can be almost double that size!
Organize Planner Stickers by Function
Depending on your planning style, arranging your stickers into your reusable sticker book based on how they help you might be the way to go. Stickers for habit tracking can all fit on one page, or maybe you need to group appointment labels together.
Organize Planner Stickers by Life Category
If you have a lot of labels, icons, and scripts that all relate to one life category, it might make sense to group those together. When you’re planning for health and fitness, you can have every thing you need at your fingertips. This works well for other categories such as finances, school, work, cleaning, and more!
Choose Planner Sticker Sub-Categories
Once you know what the most important criteria are for choosing a planner sticker, then you’ll want to think about the ways you can divide that category further. This determines how many pages you might need for each main category. Remember to account for future growth as you collect new stickers. I recommend keeping the same scheme for each category.
Subcategories can include any of the previous ideas for main categories (color, size, shape, function, life area). Note how many pages you might need for each category. Repeat that pattern every month.
For example, I start with color, and then break each monthly color into pages for labels, boxes, icons, and scripts. Then when I moved my stickers over, I kept all of the labels and boxes on the first open spread within the color category, then icons, then scripts. You might break it up by style of icon (minimal, doodle) or fonts for scripts.
PlannerSticker Book Organization Video
Organizing stickers can be a long process! If you’d like to co-work with me while filling your sticker book, I have a nice long video you can watch while you do it. The video is a companion to this post, so you might learn more than what I can cover here on the blog, including how I physically move the stickers!
Final Thoughts on Organizing a Reusable Sticker Book
But I’ve been using this system for years and it really does help streamline my planning process. It’s a very functional way to be able to use some stickers when I want some cute little flair in my functional plans.
I don’t have to go flipping through a bunch of different sticker books and files to find what I need. Because everything is in one spot, I only have to turn a few pages, and it’s all right there where I need it.
Since I don’t have to refill all of my sticker sheets into their correct album space or binder or wherever they go, this system makes the process of using stickers in my plans less overwhelming. I recommend doing it this way. If you’d like to see my sticker book in action while I plan, check out my Functional Monthly Plan with Me videos.
